Collaborative Projects
The BREATHE (Bridging Regional Ecology, Aerosolized Toxins, and Health Effects) Center brings together experts in air quality and health to conduct multidisciplinary research. Its goal is to improve our understanding of how environmental factors affect our well-being through collaborative projects, knowledge sharing, and community engagement.
Salton Sea Forum
The Salton Sea Forum was established in 2024 through a collaboration between the Center for Health Disparities (HDR@UCR) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB). This forum serves as a central data hub, providing members of communities surrounding the Salton Sea with access to relevant information and resources.
Workshops
The BREATHE Center annually hosts a research workshop designed to facilitate the dissemination of cutting-edge findings through presentations and poster sessions. This event serves as a platform for researchers, students, and collaborators to engage in scholarly exchange, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and promoting advancements in the field and related topics.
BREATHE Laboratory
The BREATHE Laboratory is a lab space dedicated to studies on air quality, health effects, and pulmonary physiology providing support for biomedical sciences students and clinical sciences faculty.
Media
The BREATHE Center's co-created media includes collaborative knowledge shared through StoryMaps, comic books, and featured appearances on podcasts or radio.
Publications
Publications and articles by members of the BREATHE Center include but are not limited to our main partners in this work including faculty in the Center for Conservation Biology (CCB), the College of Engineering Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT), and Biomedical Sciences in the School of Medicine. We also have affiliations with the Science and Technology Studies group in the UCR Center for Ideas and Society, and Health Assessment and Research for Communities (HARC).
